Methodology of the Musical preparatory course

The main objective of this musical preparatory course for kindergarten is the development of auditory perception which is the cornerstone of the musical experience and on which the course methodology is based.
The complexity of the current world of sounds can, for a child, turn into a “sound chaos”, which penalizes attention and interest, with the risk of passive reception.
The period of three to six years is ideal for starting music education, whose language, learned through the natural development of the three senses (hearing-sight-touch), is naturally absorbed by the child’s mind. This course aims to introduce the musical language in an active, concrete and sensorial way through the personal experience of the child himself, stimulating his body which is the first and most valuable cognitive tool, to materialize the abstract parameters of music.

Each lesson is divided into three fluent passages:

  1. The practice of singing, a fundamental pedagogical tool, which develops linguistic, creative skills and makes you familiar with the structures of musical language; the voice is the most natural instrument that allows you to actively experience the musical experience and develop the ear. We initially learn songs, listening to them from the teacher’s voice, popular tradition with a simple and repetitive melodic-rhythmic structure with small variations, this helps the correct intonation of a few notes and the memorization of various nursery rhymes. Use of percussion instruments to mark the beats of each song through the use of movement games so as to highlight the fast rhythmic moments from the slow or sound ones to those of silence and acquire the ability to use the space thus developing coordination of movements.
  2. The practice and listening of an instrument at each lesson, flute, xylophone, piano. One becomes aware of the emotions that the use and listening of a musical instrument causes. Distinction between acute and severe sounds. Listening to instrumental music, taken from the classical repertoire lived through the physical sensations of each child, or melodies that want to represent animal or character sounds in the imagination, a distinction between the “forte and the piano”. You also learn the recognition of the various instrumental tones.
  3. Beginning of musical notation through colors, drawings and fables on musical notes and the related note-sound association.

voice-music, sound-music, movement-music, music-notation are some relationships that begin to be part of the educational experience of the child, thanks to which the “musical thought”.
